GEOTECHNICAL DRILLING Great West Drilling rigs are completely equipped for drilling in the most difficult rock and soil conditions. Drive samples are obtained safely and efficiently through the use of automatic drop hammers. The AP1000 Becker Hammer equipment is supercharged for increased driving energy and more efficient operation. Our equipment is in compliance with the engineering specifications for determining penetration resistance using the Becker Hammer to drive closed drill pipe as a large diameter penetrometer. GWD personnel have extensive experience with geotechnical sampling methods and installation of instrumentation including piezometers, inclinometers, bench markers, settlement monuments, and others.

EXPLORATION DRILLING Great West Drilling provides a range of drilling services to the mining industry. We specialize in Becker Hammer and Dual Wall Reverse Circulation drilling. The Becker Hammer drill incorporates several drilling methods in one versatile unit. Overburden and unconsolidated formations can be drilled, sampled, and cased with Becker Hammer Pipe using an open face bit. The Becker Pipe then acts as a temporary casing, allowing coring, Dual Wall Reverse Circulation Rotary or conventional rotary methods to be utilized in consolidated formations. Difficult locations can be accessed with our track mounted drilling equipment and support units. These rigs are equipped for Dual Wall Air Rotary, Tubex, drilling, wireline coring, and conventional air and mud rotary. In addition, Great West Drilling rigs are set up for angle hole drilling

EVIRONMENTAL DRILLING Great West Drilling's Becker Hammer, Dual Wall Air Percussion, Rotary, and Hollow Stem Auger equipment is ideal for sampling formations and groundwater, and for well construction through the inside of the drill string. The unique, enclosed circulation system used by the Becker Hammer and Dual Wall Air Rotary drill completely contains samples of material and groundwater to avoid cross contamination. Water bearing zones can be accurately delineated with these drills since no drilling fluids, other than air, are used. Open face bits allow for undisturbed sampling ahead of the bit with split spoons, tube samplers, groundwater samplers, core barrels and other sampling devices. We provide OSHA 40 hour health and safety training, supervisor training and annual 8 hour refresher courses for our employees.
